Wallpaper Design Awards, Russia, Best Light

2006 Wallpaper Design Awards 2

To avoid massacre we invited six incontestable authorities who agreed to become members of the jury with pleasure: Lord Foster – architectural guru; Donna Karen – legionary of fashion minimalism, where your gender doesn’t matter; Konstantin Grcic – arch-genius of furniture; Mario Testino – a photographer famous for his skill of using only the circular flash; Ivone Blazvick – the owner of the most trendy art-gallery Whitechapel; Murray Moss – the well-known design maestro from New York. They helped make the only possible and just choice and we express our immeasurable gratitude by way of portraits in the section “Much fancied Jury”…

Wallpaper Design Awards, Russian edition, USB Dandelion by Vadim Kibardin– Lamp of the Year

"We have long got used to the fact that music can be downloaded to our iPod through an USB-port of our computers. Using this port, we can get photos to our computer or synchronize electronic organizers. Apart from this, today telephones that can be charged through USB appeared as well. And now we came to deal with decorative devices. Designer Vadim Kibardin created a USB-lamp and named it Dandelion. The model consists of a flexible metal stem with a USB-plug on one end and a transparent diffuser with a luminodiode on the other. Low-current modes are enough for the lamp - for example, the lamp will still work even if the computer is off, and the operational life of the luminodiode is 1000 hours of ceaseless lighting."
